How the reviews work

Why do I keep seeing the same word?

Because you got it wrong. A word you miss comes back about ten minutes later, and keeps coming back until you get it right. That is the point: repetition at the moment you are about to forget is what makes it stick.

Why has a word I learned disappeared?

It has not — it is just not due yet. Each time you get a word right it goes quiet for longer: three days, then a week, then sixteen days, thirty-five, and ninety. The app deliberately stops showing you words you already know so your time goes on the ones you do not.

I have been getting words right, so why does my progress say nothing is learned?

A word counts as learned only after you have had it right twice in a row. One right answer could be a lucky guess, so the first one moves it along without claiming you know it. Get it right again next time it comes up and it will count.

I already know this word and do not want to see it again.

Use the crossed-out eye in the bottom-left corner of the card. That sets the word aside permanently, and it will not come back. There is no undo, so use it when you are sure.

Using the app

How do I change my level, or practise only verbs?

Both are in the bar at the top: the left dropdown picks the type of word (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, phrases, or a random mix) and the right one picks your CEFR level, A1 through C2.

What is the difference between Flashcards and Quiz?

Flashcards show you the Spanish, you recall the meaning, flip the card and say whether you got it right. Quiz shows you the Spanish and three possible translations to choose from. Both feed the same schedule, so switching between them costs you nothing.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The app keeps a batch of upcoming cards on your device, and any ratings you make while offline are saved and sent the next time you open it.

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Yes. Sign in with the same account and your progress follows you. The extension and the website at languageplay.io/tabs share one account, so a word learned in one counts in the other.

Account

I did not get the confirmation email.

Check your spam folder first. The link opens the web version of the app; you only need to follow it once, and after that you can sign in anywhere. If it still has not arrived after a few minutes, write to us.

How do I change my email or password?

Open the person icon in the top bar. Changing your password asks for the current one. Changing your email sends a link to both your old and new addresses, and both have to be followed before the change takes effect — your old address keeps working until then.

How do I delete my account?

Same menu: Delete account, confirmed with your password. It removes your account and all of your learning history immediately and for good. If you cannot get into your account, email us from the address on it and we will do it for you.

Privacy

The extension replaces your new tab page and nothing else. It cannot see the pages you visit, your history, your bookmarks or your open tabs. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is stored and why.
